Friday, February 26th, 2010

smarta100-sealCall of the Wild Ltd has been chosen by a judging panel including Deborah Meaden, of the BBC’s Dragon’s Den fame, and other leading entrepreneurs such as Bebo Founder Michael Birch as a winner of Smarta.com’s inaugural “SMARTA 100”.  Not only did Call of the Wild make the Top 100 Small Companies in the UK it was also voted in the Top 5 for its Business Ethics.

The Smarta 100 is the ultimate business accolade, recognizing the UK’s smartest small businesses. Smarta.com has uncovered remarkable companies who have gone the extra mile to differentiate themselves from the market or found clever ways to compete, from their marketing plan to their ethical stance. The result is a fascinating insight into the unique business ideas that are thriving in the current economic climate.

Business isn’t always about bulging bank balances. The top 5 for ethics category chose “companies are out there to make a positive impact on the world. They dedicate themselves to protecting our environment, helping people more vulnerable than themselves and rejuvenating communities starved of socio-economic opportunity.”

The finalists proved to the judges that they have what it takes to run a successful venture, from spotting a new opportunity to making it a reality. And the high-profile panel were delighted to see that ambitious people are saving hard and raising finances to turn their ideas into flourishing businesses.

Deborah Meaden commented:
“Discovering great new businesses is a passion of mine as is encouraging businesses to think and work better.  The Smarta 100 does both of these things – and celebrates the best of British business at the same time. I was delighted to see ambitious people saving hard and raising finances to turn their ideas into flourishing businesses ”

2008/2009 Award Winning Years

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Call of the Wild Ltd, are thrilled to announce they have won yet another accolade to complement the long list of awards won during 2008.

We reached the final for the Outstanding Training Organisation Award at the Barclays Bank Finance Academy Supplier Awards 2008. This recognition is for our innovative work with the Barclays graduate programme and our blended learning development programme. Barclays acknowledged that this was one of the best interventions they had experienced from external suppliers in 2008.

This tops off a fantastic year for Call of Wild. We are currently the National Team Building Company of the Year. This demonstrated that our work in the fields of management training, team building and leadership development is recognised as some of the best in the country. Although we were delighted to win the National Team Building Company of the Year Award, in May 2008 we were also named the Welsh Small Business of the Year 2008/2009. If possible, it was even more pleasing to win this award. This is because this award is not just restricted to our market sector. “We were competing against all business’ in Wales and therefore the award means so much more in terms of overcoming the fierce competition in this category, ” explained Geraint Lewis, Managing Director.

The Business Awards for Wales, is now in its eleventh year and continues to honour and acknowledge the very best in Welsh Business. This award is to recognise the achievement of outstanding business performance in recent years. The company’s potential for growth, innovation and commitment to Wales was key to winning this much sought-after award.

Then in October 2008, in a celebration of what is best in Wales, at the Swansea Bay Regional Business Tourism Awards Call of the Wild won the “Best Use of Technology” award.
This award was to highlight those who have successfully integrated ITC within their business development or who have shown to be further developed than other businesses within their sector.

The judges acknowledged that our online training and development academy was particularly innovative and ground breaking for the business. This combined with our significant investment in Customer Relationship Management Systems and e-marketing contributed to us winning this prestigious award. This was pleasing given we were shortlisted with the National Waterfront Museum For Wales who have invested many millions in their ITC processes.
Not only was this a wonderful achievement but we were also commended in the “Co-Operating to Compete” category. This was awarded to the business that has consistently demonstrated a willingness to engage with a wide range of partners and initiatives for the greater benefit of the wider Welsh economy.

“This series of unrivalled awards places Call of the Wild at the forefront of personal development and corporate events in the UK. It clearly demonstrates that not only our clients but also our peers recognise our work as being the best there is,” explained Kevin Gould, Director of Learning and Dvelopment.
